Fall in Full Color: A Street Art Walk through Downtown Bentonville
Here is some guidance on where to begin - Start at the Bentonville Square, or pick any mural and create your own loop. Most stops are pedestrian-friendly and fall foliage makes for spectacular photos.
1. Mantra — “Giant Butterfly” (21c Museum Hotel)
Where: Façade of the 21c Museum Hotel, 200 NE A St
Why visit in fall: The lime-green, hyper-real butterfly wings contrast beautifully with amber leaves and the Square. It’s an easy first stop — grab a coffee at Onyx before you start!
2. Nina Chanel Abney — “Mull It Over” (Razorback Greenway / SE 5th St)
Where: Mural facing the Razorback Greenway near SE 5th St (public art listings give the general SE 5th/Greenway location).
Why visit in fall: Abney’s bold, high-contrast palette pops against a backdrop of fall foliage along the Greenway — a dramatic stop if you plan a loop that includes the Momentary or trail sections of downtown.
3. ARkanvas series & other trail-adjacent murals
Where: Several pieces sited along corridors that cross into downtown and the Greenway (examples and pins appear in the city/OZ Art listings).
Why visit in fall: These works were intentionally placed along bike/ped corridors — a walk or bike ride among changing leaves highlights how art and nature play together in Bentonville’s public spaces.
4. Neon & Alley Murals — Spidertag & local alleyway pieces
Where: Parking structures, alleyways and small side streets such as the one at Walmart Neighborhood Market! (Look for the neon pieces and smaller commissioned alley murals).
Why visit in fall: Neon murals and alley art transform at dusk — the cooler autumn evenings highlight the neon glow and create cozy contrasts with streetlights and leaf-littered alleys. These little gems are ideal for a scavenger-hunt style walk.
5. Stefan Sagmeister - "Lakes and Rivers"
Where: On the south side of Ledger Bentonville, 240 S Main Street
Why visit in fall: With the constant breeze in the air, the wind is what allows this piece to flourish. Thousands of “shine disks” begin to flow with the wind, creating the scale-like feature of a fish that is best illustrated when the light hits just right.
Suggested Loop (2–3 miles round trip)
- Start at the Square — grab coffee at Onyx Coffee Lab and snap the Trout Crosswalk.
- Visit the Mantra butterfly mural at 21c Museum Hotel.
- Head south along the Greenway toward SE 5th St for Mull It Over and ARkanvas pieces.
- Swing back downtown via A Street, stopping for the Spidertag neon mural at dusk.
- End with dinner or dessert downtown — try Table Mesa, The Meteor, or Trash Creamery for a perfect fall finish.
