Scott Family Amazeum Shares POP! With Community

The Scott Family Amazeum in Bentonville invites Northwest Arkansas to experience POP! by Canadian Multidisciplinary Experiential Studio Gentilhomme at Lawrence Plaza in Downtown Bentonville. POP! will be powered up from 11 am to 9 pm every day from May 13 through May 24. Featured at the museum’s UnGala FUNdraiser, POP! integrates science, technology and art into a playful music and dance experience.

Discover POP! Friday May 13, from 7 to 9 pm when the Amazeum collaborates with Downtown Bentonville Inc. and Bentonville Parks and Recreation to present Glow Party! with the POP! Gang + DJ Girlfriend. Presentation of POP! in Northwest Arkansas is sponsored by Nabholz Construction, Cox Communications, Samsung Electronics and Visit Bentonville. This event is free and open to all ages.

“We believe play is something that unites and connects communities of all ages,” says Amazeum Executive Director Sam Dean. “When we’re looking for large-scale, interactive experiences to share with our community, we look for those that show how integrating science, technology, art, collaboration, creativity and curiosity make something uniquely wonderful. Playfully exploring these installations may spark and rekindle the creativity in someone to make something they’ve been thinking about.”

POP! consists of five colorful monoliths encasing unique creatures. Calling, talking, and singing to them entices POPO, POPUP, POPLI, POPETTE and POPOTIN to leave the monoliths and put on a show. Gathering a group to activate the creatures together “celebrates light, music, motion and popular culture,” according to POP! Creative Directors Thibaut Deverneix and Mathieu Leger. “We hope POP! will be a catalyst for energizing groups that inspires people to talk and collaborate. It’s like a big party where people get together to sing, dance and laugh.”
